This project was a result of a deep study of the Milanese architects such as Piero Portaluppi, Giovanni Muzio, Luigi Caccia Dominioni, Gio Ponti, Ignazio Gardella, Figini and Pollini etc... Understanding the architecture throughout the consistency of the milanese facades, the materiality of the buildings, the shapes that form the urbanity of the city. Starting from the transformations of Milan , the first place where modernity is fully realized in Italy. The concept of the project was to realize a Hybrid building regardless of the function, in order to go beyond the function, and to have a timeless building that will produce urbanity to the city and to the site.
The site studied was Via Santa Croce in Milan. Next to the site was a Caccia Dominioni building. We workded with an existing Arrighetti Kindergarten.
The site was on one hand free and on the other side of the market street was more dense and urban.
The project opens towards Via Santa Croce, a main street where activities and markets happen every week.
The proposal responds to the need of the city for a market facility, but also goes beyond the need, to respond to the more calm and tranquil space of Arrighetti’s kindergarten on the other side.
